Many women have been planning their weddings since they were little girls. What colors they would use, what kind of flowers, a beautiful dress, being swept off her feet by Prince Charming!

What does this stem from? Well, let’s face it, it is the nature of most little girls to like all those things…sugar and spice and everything nice! They appreciate beauty and whimsy. Who doesn’t want to be loved, cherished and desired? And where do we see a seemingly perfect picture of those things? In the fairy tales! Thanks to Disney, little girls are trained in all there is to know about the Disney version of these fairy tales and princesses.

Cinderella was my favorite story for years. Actually, it might still be my favorite fairy tale! Cinderella is classic. That is why many people desire fairy tale-esque weddings! And you can enhance your fairy tale wedding with the right cake topper, like a Cinderella cake topper. There are all kinds of Cinderella cake toppers out there, some just like Disney’s, some very unique.

Off course Cinderella cake toppers are not just for wedding cakes. Many little girls would LOVE a beautiful Cinderella cake topper to complete their birthday party or other special event! At the thrift shop! Shopping for the perfect unique touches for the party!

The environment is on the mind of many today. Keeping costs down is also a key concern for many. Planning the perfect event can get costly, but it doesn’t have to. There are many ways you can cut costs and still have a fabulous, fun event!

One way to do that is to buy previously used items, such as a cake topper! There may be some cake toppers that one person will use over and over again, but many people will buy the perfect cake topper and never use it again. They either toss it, store it away forever, donate it or sell it. Why waste it! I am happy to reuse those items, especially since they have often barely been used!

So when my budget is tight, and I want to add those unique touches to my party, I head to the thrift shops! Now you can thrift in town, at the local shop, or online through ebay or many other online sights, like craigslist etc. Budget is no longer an obstacle for finding a unique and fabulous cake topper and I can help the environment too buy reusing!

A beautiful cake is not just part of the menu, it is part of setting the tone for the party. It can contribute and reinforce the theme, it honors the occasion and it is often also a beautiful center piece for the party, all in edition to being an edible treat and part of the menu!

Well now with a musical cake topper your cake can not only be part of the decor, it can also be part of the entertainment! Add some whimsey to your occasion with a musical cake topper. These are like small music boxes crafted for the top of a cake! They can add charm to your party and definitely make your cake unique!

Choosing a cake topper.

There are a million cake toppers out there. If you are like me, you may want to have some sort of guideline or method for choosing a cake topper. So here are a few things to consider when shopping for a cake topper.

1. Consider the size. You want something that is going to fit your cake and look appropriate. A cake topper that is tiny on a huge cake is lost and looks out of place, however a cake topper that is huge may not fit on a smaller cake or again, look silly and out of place. So consider the size as you are shopping.

2.Consider the construction and material it’s made with. Most of the time this isn’t an issue, and if it is, it can be worked through, however a cake topper that is too heavy for a delicate cake could be a problem.

3. Consider the occasion. Obvious. A wedding cake topper probably needs to have a romantic theme, a birthday cake topper, a birthday theme!

4. Consider those the cake is honoring. How can you make it unique to them? What are there unique styles and likes?

5. Would you like an edible cake topper or simply a decorative one?

6. Consider your budget. Cake toppers range in price greatly, so consider your budget and what you would like to spend.

Those are just a few guidelines to get you started and thinking about the right cake topper for you!

Marking the Occasion

I love to celebrate! There are so many great reasons to celebrate. We live in a culture that often fails to celebrate those things most worth celebrating. We are either too busy to effectively mark the occasion, we fail to notice those occasions, or we are simply unsure how celebrate.

The “big” occasions may seem obvious since our culture has norms for many of those (weddings, birthdays, etc.) But there are many other reasons to celebrate and mark the occasion.

One of my favorite ways to mark an occasion is with a cake. It doesn’t take long to quickly bake a cake, or pick one up from the store. But everyone knows there is something special if you have a cake. And everyone feels special and cared for, if the cake is in honor of them. A cake that is uniquely for that person or that occasion is an AMAZING way to go the extra mile, to really honor that person or that day and to make the day special. A unique cake can really make the occasion.

I think one of the best ways to make a cake unique to the occasion or the person is with a cake topper. Cake toppers are so simple to add to a cake and yet speak so loudly to the extra thought and care that was taken. They take a cake from ordinary to extraordinary with very little effort and take your occasion from noteworthy to celebrated!

So let’s take time to enjoys the small things in life, and to celebrate those things and people that deserve to be celebrated, let’s have beautiful cake and eat it too!
